Weber DGAV, DGEV and DGV carburetor parts.

The Weber DGAV, DGEV en DGV series is a series of twin venturi downdraft progressive carburetors.

This effectively means that each of these carburetors is equipped with two venturis, each with its own throttle valve, mounted an individual throttle shafts and that those shafts are progressively linked, i.e. the secondary throttle valve only starts opening when the primary is opened for at least 2/3rds of its travel.

The Weber DGAV is equipped with an Automatic choke (or cold-start device if you prefer that name) while the DGEV and DGV are equipped with manually operated choke mechanisms.

This series of carburettors was primarily developed by Weber for Ford who used these units roughly between 1978 and 1988 on the 1591 and 1993 cc engines as found in the Cortina, Taunus, Sierra, Capri and Granada.

In the mean time, it is very well possible that these carburetors have found their way onto completely different vehicles and applications so don't be surprised if you find one sitting proudly on a marine engine!

In some cases, these carburetors were equipped with an Anti-Stall device that prevents the engine from stalling in the very low rpm-range.
This system is not always indicated on the drawings but Weber gave it the promising name LoVE...
The harsh reality is that this merely stands for "Low Vacuum Enrichment"... which is indeed what it is... when the vacuum in the inlet tract falls aways as the engine is about to stall, the LoVE diaphragm squirts a small quantity through the regular pump jet into the air stream to help the engine overcome the impeding stall.
