Motorcraft 1V carburetor parts.
The Motorcraft 1V carburetor was developed by Ford themselves and was produced in the hundreds of thousands.
In production from roughly 1978 to 1986, it was used on the various Ford models such as the Escort, Taunus, Cortina, Transit, Fiesta and Capri but also on the Saab 95 and 96 V4 and even the Ford Watermota marine engines.
It is a rather simple, single venturi carburettor, hence the name "1V" for "1 Venturi".
It is either equipped with a manual, cable-operated, choke mechanism or a somewhat more complicated "automatic" choke that use a bi-metal that responds to the temperature of the cooling liquid.
The carburetor is equipped with a standard pump, which uses a flexible diaphragm, to facilitate a smooth transition from idle to off-idle.
Except for the removable main jet, all other jets are calibrated brass bushings which are pressed into the cast housing and can not be replaced.
